Branch news: Continuous Improvement at Coca Cola

On 25th February 30 members of the London, Southern, Thames Valley and Eastern Branches met the Coca-Cola Enterprises Limited (CCE) team at Edmonton, London to review how the site became the Management Today Award’s Best Households & General Products business. The site has almost 170 employees and is responsible for the production of 20 million cases per year of both 0.5 and 2 litre products.

Richard Davies, the site General Manager, welcomed the group before providing an overview of the relationship between CCE and The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC). CCE’s Adrian Pask then discussed the process they had used to introduce ‘Lean’ into their operations, stressing how their commitment to people development underpins this strategy. As explained by Richard Davies, the machines and the factory they use are easily replicated by their competition, and what differentiates the site is the morale and training of the people.
