Member news: Austen Jones takes to the road for charity

Institute member Austen Jones, MIOM is to do a 5-day 280 mile sponsored bike ride for the British Heart Foundation. He has pledged to raise £3,000 and has decided that as well as accepting donations from generous minded sponsors, he will offer his consultancy services free of charge if the benefiting company donates an appropriate amount to the British Heart Foundation.

Austen has recently finished a successful project concerned with specifying, designing and implementing a web-based ‘micro’ supply chain management system for Saftronics Ltd, who make Control Panels and Motor Control Centres. Not only is the production planning function now benefiting from more timely and accurate delivery schedule information, but also the amount of time spent progressing orders for the key supplier has dropped sharply. In addition to ‘micro’ web based SCM solutions, he can offer troubleshooting for operations problems, internal process audits, database system specification and design and web site design. So if your company is currently looking for any of these services, why not take Austen up on his generous offer and help the British Heart Foundation at the same time… win-win! Austen can be contacted by email at: austenj@me-too.net
