Institute news : AGM News

At the recent AGM on 20th October 2004, Geoff Relph stepped down as Chairman. Our thanks go to Geoff for leading the Institute for the past two years.

Peter Aston, who has served as Vice Chairman during Geoff’s term of office, takes up the reins as Chairman, supported by two new Vice Chairmen, John Theophilus and Derek Thomason. Further details on Peter, John and Derek can be found overleaf.

Dave Mowbray was re-elected as Honorary Treasurer and Frank Wright continues in his role as Honorary Secretary.

Six newly Elected Members were also welcomed to Council: Neil Dewfield, Dave Dowty, John Hardwick, Alan Jacques, Steve Palmer and Kevin Rough bring their varied knowledge and experience to Council to help guide the direction and activities of the Institute. More details on these members will appear in the next issue of Control.

Our thanks also go to Steve Childe who stepped down as Vice Chairman and Tony Mountain and Parmjit Dhugga who retired as Elected Members.

There were also changes in the National Committees with David Maguire taking over from David Angove as Chairman of the Publications (previously known as Editorial) Committee. We are grateful to David Angove for all his work with this Committee over many years. Neil Towers and Mervyn Deighton continue as Chairmen of Qualifications & Awards and Learning Resources (previously ROME) Committees respectively.

Chairmen have not yet been identified for either Events or Short Courses Committees. If anyone is interested in leading the Institute’s work in these areas, please contact the Chief Executive, Julie Tayler, as soon as possible.
