RFID - Recipe for Inventory Destruction - or a boring technological initiative?

This article addresses the notion that RFID Radio Frequency Identification Devices – which will be used to track products through their manufacturing and distribution cycles - could also be used within the Supply Chain for other important aspects, for instance forecasting true demand, and also for signalling when to order a product.

The Manufacturing and Retail sector is beginning to get excited about a “new” initiative, which could herald a major change for all of the products that consumers buy in the high street, and for all products traded between companies, in an area which could hardly be described as exciting – the label.
