Getting started with RFID; What you need to know and a success story

Different industries across the economy have felt the effects of globalisation, increasing oil prices, terrorist attacks, and stiff market competition. In order to become more competitive, companies have had to resort to more dynamic and strategic ways of operating their businesses; therefore introducing new supply chain concepts, technologies, and partnerships.

Within this continuously changing environment, there is a technology that has constantly been associated with better planning, cost reduction, efficiency, and information sharing. RFID – Radio Frequency identification – is the tool of choice for supporting innovation in which Wal-Mart, the U.S. Military, and from which many other significant world organisations seem to be benefiting. RFID has been able to offer supply chains live feeds of accurate data captured, changing the way a product passes from the initial manufacturer to its final user. How has this technology impacted recent supply chains?
