Student Of The Year AwardsThe award evening held recently at Nelson & Colne College was a particularly satisfying occasion...
Students, who had been guinea pigs for both the new Certificate in Operations Management syllabus and for the Practitioner award via the Distance Learning programme received their certificates, with thanks from the Institute for helping to pilot these new initiatives. These students were joined by those who had completed the Introductory Certificate and Diploma via traditional means.
Each year the Institute makes an award of National ICPIM Student of the Year to the student who is considered to have achieved the most through completing the programme, who is not necessarily the one who gains the highest marks in their assessments or examination. This year the award was made to Colin Jones of British Aerospace in Chester (profiled in the February issue of Control). Unfortunately, Colin who studied at Nelson & Colne College, was on holiday at the time of the awards evening,so Julie Tayler, the IOM’s Assistant Secretary, presented the trophy to his boss, Logistics Manager, Robbie Forshaw, who attended on his behalf.
The North West Branch also makes a Student of the Year award. This year the award was made to Frank Edworthy of Rolls Royce in Barnoldswick, who was judged to have made the most progress on the programme. Norman Lees of the North West Branch presented the trophy and the book tokens to Frank. The Institute offers its warmest congratulations to all of the students.
