Minding The Forecasting Gap

Collaborative forecasting epitomises the current concepts of ‘One Plan 'and Supply Chain Integration. The question that always arises is one of, "How do you give credence and respect to the demand figures that have been at best acceptable and at worst ignored, whilst ensuring that the integrity of the forecasting process is maintained?"

This article considers the development of the forecasting process at H J Heinz and the implications of ensuring that participants buy into the concept of ‘One Plan '. It proposes a process for recognising the value that Key Account Managers add to the process, and their ability in maintaining the integrity of their input whilst being able to accept and work to a level of forecast control that suits the business.
