Value Adding Analysis

Brian O'Connor is well-known in the IOM and there was a good turn-out for his presentation at The Post House, Haydock on 13th September. Brian's theme was Value Adding Analysis (VAA).

VAA is a well established technique, but one that is not widely applied. Brian argued that this technique could be applied to a wide range of situations from sales to production and research and development, or even an individual's private life. In many cases, VAA can be applied relatively quickly and easily (certainly in comparison to the potential benefits). Most importantly, VAA is a technique that typically requires only four hours of training.

Brian illustrated the power and benefits of the VAA technique by reference to several cases from his consultancy practice and cited cases from diverse areas ranging from construction to manufacture and finance.

Overall, this was a provocative, interactive and eventful presentation that was well received by members from the region.

David Petty, FIOM
