Letter: the Don Ralston Lecture and Dinner

Dear Editor: I wanted to quickly say that the lecture and dinner last night were an absolute pleasure.

The evening provided me with an excellent opportunity to meet very experienced manufacturing professionals and to ask their advice on projects that I am just looking at starting for the first time - it was great to hear that some of them may even work!

The lecture gave a newcomer to both Operations in general and your organisation in particular, a fascinating insight into the path that IT has taken within manufacturing to this day and I very much look forward to attending future events.

I was wondering if there are any plans in the future to host some form of introductory programme into Operations by the Institute? Obviously this would be heavily dependent on the experience levels of the majority of your members, but for those of us who are very new to this field, it would be an excellent chance to meet our peers across industries and to pick the brains of some of the fascinating experienced members of the Institute.

My congratulations and thanks for a truly rewarding evening.

Regards

Adrian Pask Coca Cola Enterprises
