Simplicity wins: Twelve rules for designing effective supply chains

Effective logistics systems must be engineered according to the simplicity paradigm. His requires the supply chain to be designed as an holistic business process with streamlined material and information flow using the proven rules given in the article. The goal is to achieve high customer service levels coupled with minimum reasonable inventory. Here simple but robust Decision Support Systems (DSS) enhance the stability of the logistics supply chain which is then better able to respond to the 'chaotic' market place. By simplifying material flow we are also helping to enable Agile Manufacture to deliver bottom-line benefits as sample industrial results adequately demonstrate.
